HISTORY

The history of DiGiovanni Homes begins with history of the man who started it, Agostino “Gus” DiGiovanni. Gus began his career in 1962 at the age of fifteen as an apprentice brick layer in the small town of Rocccomorici, Italy. Three years later he immigrated to Canada, where he spent another eleven years working on major commercial construction projects.

In 1976, Gus moved to Florida with a group of family investors to begin construction of their first major project, the Four Oaks Motel on Gulf to Bay Blvd. Over the next twenty years Gus and his family build over fifteen successful hotels and restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. It was at the end of this successful period that Gus made the decision to create DiGiovanni Homes.

DiGiovanni Homes first project began in early 2000 on Clearwater Beach with a ten unit town home project called Brightwater Townhomes. It was a major success, and many believe it spurred the great development seen on Clearwater Beach in the early 2000s. DiGiovanni Homes went on to build three more townhome communities on Clearwater Beach before moving on to the custom homes scene in 2006 with the development of Renaissance Oaks. Despite the great downturn in the housing market between 2007 and 2010, DiGiovanni Homes built 22 custom homes in the Renaissance Oaks community.

Most recently, DiGiovanni Homes completed the Harbor Key Townhomes project in Safety harbor, just at the entrance of downtown on Main St. and McMullen Booth Rd. The Harbor Key community was hailed as an amazing addition to city of Safety Harbor and a great success for DiGiovanni Homes.
